英語の勉強をするために、色んな方法を実践中です。
この連休中に図書館で借りてきた苫米地英人氏の本によると、「世界各国の新聞を読み続ける習慣がとても良い」と書いてありました。
これは英語の勉強に限ったことではなく、世の中を知るということにおいても重要なのだそうです。
彼の場合は、iPadを使って読んでいるとのことでしたが、私はあまりiPadを活用できないまま放置しているのでiPhoneのアプリを探してみることにしました。
BBCニュースとニューヨークタイムズのアプリは発見できましたが、フランスの新聞「ルモンド」はウェブサイトで英語バージョンの記事を閲覧するしかないようです。
他にも英語雑誌のアプリもありますが、とりあえずこのくらいにしておきます。
苫米地氏のような天才と違って、残念ながら読むスピードも遅いので新聞ばかり読んではいられないのです。
まだまだチンプンカンプンで読み進めることが困難なので、しばらくは日本語翻訳が欠かせません。
とりあえず、テレビを観るのを辞める代わりにニュースアプリを使って学習を進めようと思います。

Read newspapers from around the world on your smartphone
I am practicing various methods to study English.
According to a book by Hideto Tomabechi, which I borrowed from the library during the holidays, “I have a very good habit of reading newspapers from all over the world.”
This is not limited to studying English, but it is also important to know the world.
In his case, he said he was reading on the iPad, but I left the iPad unusable, so I decided to look for an iPhone app.
I’ve found the BBC News and New York Times apps, but the French newspaper Le Monde seems to have no choice but to browse the English version of the article on its website.
There are other English magazine apps, but I’ll leave it at this level for the time being.
Unlike a genius like Mr. Tomabechi, unfortunately the reading speed is slow, so I can’t just read newspapers.
It’s still difficult to read on with Chimpung Kampung, so Japanese translation is indispensable for a while.
For the time being, instead of quitting watching TV, I’m going to use the news app to study.
